Historic Building Restoration Services

Sensitive Cleaning for Period & Listed Properties

At Beaming Restorations, we specialise in the restoration and cleaning of historic buildings, using a low-pressure, dry-cleaning system that respects the materials and craftsmanship of the past. Whether you’re dealing with oak beams, stone fireplaces, lime-rendered walls, or painted brickwork, we provide a non-invasive solution ideal for heritage settings.

Our process is designed to preserve character, not erase it.

Our Historic Restoration Process

Every historic building is different. That’s why our approach combines thoughtful preparation with precision and care at every stage.

1. Initial Consultation

We begin with a detailed discussion of your property’s materials, history, and any previous work carried out. We can often work from photos, or visit on-site to evaluate the condition and recommend the best course of action.

2. Preparation

All surfaces, floors, and features are protected before work begins. We use dust containment methods to safeguard sensitive interiors and ensure a clean, disruption-free process.

3. Gentle, Dry Cleaning

Our specialist low-pressure system safely removes paint, varnish, smoke damage, and grime from beams, brickwork, stone, or rendered surfaces — without the risk of damage from sandblasting, power washing, or chemical stripping. It’s especially effective on hardwood timbers, and uneven or historic surfaces.

4. Attention to Detail

We treat each surface with care, adjusting our technique for carved detailing, aged timber, or uneven render. The aim is always to reveal and enhance the building’s character — not to strip it away.

5. Full Clean-Up

Once cleaning is complete, we remove all protection and carry out a full tidy-up. We take pride in leaving your home or project space clean, tidy, and ready for the next phase.

6. Aftercare & Optional Treatments

We offer advice on breathable finishes for timber and masonry surfaces and can apply optional protective treatments where appropriate. These are always tailored to the needs of the building and your preference.
