Anti-Foul Removal Services
Gentle Removal of Marine Coatings & Anti-Foul Paint
At Beaming Restorations, we provide professional anti-foul removal using a dry, low-pressure system that eliminates old marine coatings without damaging the hull or surrounding surfaces. Ideal for timber, GRP, and sensitive substrates, our method is a cleaner, safer alternative to sanding or chemical strippers.
Whether you’re preparing for reapplication or restoring a traditional wooden boat, we help you start from a clean, undamaged base.

Our Anti-Foul Removal Process
Working in marine environments calls for care, containment, and a method that doesn’t compromise your vessel’s integrity. Here’s how we do it:
1. Initial Consultation
We’ll assess the vessel type, anti-foul coating, and surface condition. Most quotes can be provided from photos, or we’ll arrange a visit if needed. We can work directly with boat owners, yards, or restoration teams.
2. Containment & Protection
We create a controlled work area to capture residue and prevent mess. This includes sheeting, masking, and portable containment where appropriate — ideal for working at marinas or boatyards.
3. Gentle, Dry Cleaning
Using our specialist low-pressure dry-cleaning system, we strip back layers of anti-foul paint, oxidation, or coating build-up without water or abrasive sanding, which is safer for the substrate.
4. Detail Work
We adapt our technique to the shape and features of each vessel, working carefully around fittings, seams, and timber detailing. This approach avoids the patchiness and scarring sometimes caused by mechanical sanding.
5. Clean-Up
All waste and debris are collected and removed. We pride ourselves on leaving the site (and vessel) clean and ready for inspection or further coatings.
6. Aftercare & Reapplication Advice
We can provide guidance on suitable primers, finishes, or breathable coatings depending on the material and your plans. We can also liaise with your paint supplier or boatyard if needed.
