Elm Beam Cleaning

Elm beams are full of character, with distinctive grain patterns and a warm tone that can be hidden under years of coatings, smoke damage, or general surface grime. At Beaming Restorations, we offer gentle, dry cleaning of elm beams — including purlins, rafters, and apex timbers — using a low-pressure system designed to protect and enhance this beautiful hardwood.

Whether your beams are painted, stained, or just in need of a fresh start, we can help restore their natural charm.

Our Elm Beam Cleaning Process

Gentle, Low-Pressure Cleaning

We use a dry system operating at just 28–32 psi, combined with a soft, fine blasting medium. This allows us to gradually remove unwanted coatings without damaging the grain or structure of the elm. The result is a clean, consistent finish that reveals the natural variation in colour and texture.

No Water, No Mess

Unlike wet blasting systems, ours introduces no water at any stage. This reduces the risk of moisture problems, smearing, or the need for redecoration — making it ideal for indoor use, especially in sensitive or historic buildings.
